FB leaf chain is made from specialist steels that are selected for their ability to withstand high shock loads following heat treatment whilst maintaining their basic strength and excellent wear characteristics.
A longer working life is assured
All link plates are re-punched to correct the taper normally found following conventional blanking. The re-punched hole is accurate and parallel which significantly increases fatigue strength.
Superior fatigue strength comes as standard
Precision grinding of the chain rivet pins combined with the double punched plates ensures that the pin to plate contact is constant with all the elements sharing the load equally. The bearing pressure is thereby minimised reducing the rate of wear.
Precision tolerancing minimising wear rate
Link plates and pins are fortified against fatigue failure by shot peening. This high speed operation removes blemishes and creates beneficial compressive stresses on the surface, increasing fatigue strength.
By pre-loading the assembled chain the correct seating of component parts is assured, greatly reducing initial chain elongation resulting in longer chain life. ISO 9000 Quality Management All procedures used in the manufacturing are fully compliant with FB Chain’s ISO 9000 quality management system. All manufactured batches of leaf chain are uniquely numbered.
Test certificates are issued showing full details of minimum breaking load and proof load applied. From the test certificate numbers the chain is fully traceable back through the manufacturing process to the raw material.
