conveyor chain vintage finland man working on chainOur history dates all the way back to the 1870s when Adolf Fredrik Hedengran established a factory in central Eskilstuna, Sweden, for the manufacture of iron and steel products.

In 1908 the company was purchased by the newly formed Eskilstuna Fabriks AB. Working under this name it manufactured conveyors chains for the first time in 1912.

Manufacturing of conveyor chains first started in Finland under the name Rama but subsequently the company operated under a number of different owners with differing names.

In 1979 production in Finland moved to a purpose build factory in Koylio, Finland.

In 1985 the factory in Finland was purchased by the FB Group from Huhtamaki.

FB continued manufacturing conveyor chain in both Sweden and Finland until the late 1990s when production of all conveyor chain was eventually consolidated into the much improved and modernised factory in Koylio, Finland.

We have spent many years working with Scandinavia’s leading steel producers, refining the specialised steels that our conveyor chain are manufactured from. We also have a long relationship with the welding department of the university of Lappeenranta.

Our conveyor chains continue to be manufactured using automatic assembly machines and robotic welders. We have a very good reputation, particularly with heavy duty applications, and this is borne out by us regularly exporting FB conveyor chain to Asia - a continent noted for its own low cost manufacturing.

The FB Group manufactures conveyor chain and many other products. Each of the FB subsidiaries across Europe specialises in a number of niches, so that as a whole we are able to cater for all your industrial chain requirements. As well as conveyor chain and associated parts, FB is also a leading manufacturer of leaf chain, roller chain, sharp top chain.
