The rise in electromobility of industrial vehicles

In this latest of a series of posts showcasing FB Chain's sister companies, the Managing Director of Belgian electronic throttle control specialist MCS, explains how collaboration is making life as easy as possible for its customers.

"The growth of electromobility in off-highway applications has seen demand for our CAN – J1939 integrated module for throttle controls reach new heights," says MCS's MD Norbert Mendlicki.

Helping OEMs stay competitive

"We’ve been supplying the CAN-J1939 to bus and coach Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) customers for about five years. But now manufacturers in the agriculture, construction and materials handling segments are also getting in touch.

CAN-J1939-MCS (1)When they do, we’re proud to offer them a reliable, high-quality solution in line with market needs – unlike some of our competitors who perhaps could provide something similar if pushed, but aren’t ready and experienced to do so. There’s a big difference.

At MCS, we’re agile in our decision-making and quick to adapt to the way the world is going. As a high-tech company in a niche market, we cannot afford to fall asleep or relax.

We stay close to our customers and distributors, listen to what they are asking for and continually develop new products to deliver it. You say, we do.

We will even customise products for limited volumes – something larger competitors definitely won’t do.

Thanks to our Addtech backing, we have the financial leverage to invest in the resources required so we will invest for you to make it the way you want – no matter how small the order.

Of course, that means we’re not cheap - but we are ‘price attractive’. Our customers are willing to pay a little bit more for the high level of support we provide and value we add.

Our number one rule at MCS is to react quickly, even if it’s just to an email. We also understand the pressures on manufacturers today to reduce lead times and inventory.

International support

Large OEMs typically deal directly with our Brussels headquarters or subsidiaries in Wisconsin, USA and near Shanghai in China.

But we also have a network of distributors in the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Sweden, Finland, Italy, Poland, South Africa, India, Brazil, Thailand and Japan.

Small to medium-sized manufacturers often prefer to work with these distributors for the local support in the local language.

Our factories in Belgium, the USA and China all follow the same procedures and quality rules – and our distributors all keep parts on inventory so we can react and deliver quickly to customers wherever they are in the world.

Keeping a large inventory – so our customers don’t have to – and having global assembly and distribution, are key factors in our speed.

Another way we make customers’ lives easier is by teaming up with our Addtech sister companies to deliver a complete package. Together we are starting to fit almost the entire cab with pedals, joysticks and armrests.

One of the biggest concerns among OEM purchasing departments today is how to cut costs and simplify logistics. With us, they can get everything from one source and have the parts consolidated and shipped in one go.

As customers, especially in Europe, struggle to improve their manufacturing competitiveness, I predict we’ll be delivering more and more joint solutions as a group.

So if you have an enquiry about an electronic governor controller, throttle pedal or even an entire system, don’t hesitate to get in touch."
