Our sense of physical, mental and emotional wellbeing can have an enormous impact on our levels of satisfaction, performance and productivity in the workplace.
It's something that we have always placed a large priority on at FB Chain - and with that in mind, we're pleased to announce that we'll be introducing an exciting range of new employee wellness initiatives over the coming months.
Benenden Healthcare scheme
Starting in April 2019, all of our staff will be offered the opportunity to become members of Benenden Health, with all monthly membership costs covered by FB Chain.
Benenden Health is a mutual organisation membership healthcare scheme that provides an affordable way for individuals to look after their health and wellbeing by complementing existing NHS services and providing a low cost alternative to traditional private medical insurance.
Staff who choose to participate in the scheme will have access to a wide range of health services from medical diagnostics, treatment and surgery to physiotherapy, 24/7 GP access and psychological wellbeing support. There is no exclusion on the grounds of pre-existing medical conditions and no upper age limit.
Starting this month, we will be providing healthy lunches for staff on an occasional basis. In acknowledgement of Veganuary, all of our January lunch offerings will be vegan dishes.
Incentives to keep active
Ensuring that we're all keeping on the move as much as possible is going to be another priority for the FB Chain team in 2019.
This year we're offering all our staff the option to purchase a new Fitbit activity tracker at a vastly subsidised rate. As of January 2019 we're pleased to report that we've placed an order for twenty-two Fitbits.
Monthly Fitness Challenges
Starting in February 2019 we will be running weekly and monthly fitness challenges between staff members, with incentives and rewards for the greatest number of steps achieved or the most exercise recorded.
The first challenge event for this year will be our February ‘Wall Sit Challenge’ which will be held in aid of the Hertfordshire Mind Network. We're excited to fundraising for this Letchworth-based charity which provides a huge range of wellbeing services including counselling, dementia advice, complex needs support, employment support and one-to-one peer monitoring within the Hertfordshire community.
For each minute of wall sitting that our staff successfully complete, FB Chain will be making a donation of £1 to the charity. We are also happy to accept donations from other businesses who wish to support us in our fundraising efforts!
Workplace Resilience and Wellbeing
Our Special Projects Manager, Debbie Craig, has recently completed her Workplace Resilience and Wellbeing (WRAW) practitioner accreditation.
WRAW is a psychometric tool and survey that enables organisations to measure resilience and its impact on wellbeing in the workplace.
As the importance of resilience and mental health in the workplace accelerates up the agenda, leading organisations are looking at the proactive steps they can take to support a culture of wellbeing and healthy high performance for their employees.
Using the WRAW principles of '5 Pillars of Resilience', organisations are now able to provide employees with holistic insights into their current levels of resilience and wellbeing.
Armed with this data, it's possible to more easily able to identify and harness everyone's individual strengths as well as pinpointing opportunities for development.
The WRAW scheme has been offered to all our FB Chain employees and we'll look forward to updating you on its outcomes in the coming months.
