traceability

Traceability is essential when dealing with safety critical parts

Written by Darran Green on 12 Sep 2015

Every chain that is received from the factory arrives with a detailed master certificate which includes many details such as the dimensions, material details, tensile strength and test data. Key information that we require to produce a test certificate for each batch of the chain.

The master certificate is then held by FB Chain for posterity. Over the years, the number of master certificates held by us has grown significantly and resulted in a great deal of space being taken up storing them, as they were paper copies. It also meant that finding an old master certificate could at times be a cumbersome job.

Over the last couple of months, to streamline our process and help us become more efficient and environmentally friendly, every master certificate has been scanned and is now stored electronically. Thousands and thousands of certificates going back over 30 years were scanned, which means that our ability to retrieve any master certificate is much quicker and storage space saved. All new master certificates arriving from the factory are immediately scanned and stored on our computer system so no more paper copies are made until required.

All our customers can be confident in knowing that they will always have traceabilty of our chains when they purchase from us.
